1980’s / 1990’s SelfServe Washroom Vending Machine

This PARTIALLY WORKING 2 column machine from SelfServe is a 1980s / 1990s 2 column washroom machine that can vend 2 columns of products.

Includes the 2 mounting brackets which nearly ALWAYS get lost / binned!

Only the LEFT HAND column is functional, on 2x Post-1992 10p, the package size for this drawer is 100mm x 75mm x 25mm.

The RIGHT HAND column is set to 2 x 20p but does not function, the coins drop down to the stacker but the drawer is unable to be released.

Note that with no stock, and even with the right coins, neither drawer will open! The lock has been modified so the machine can be opened with any screwdriver.

This machine is completely mechanical. It was SelfServes first (and last!) attempt at a precision engineered, all-mechanical machine with limited multi-coin, multi-combination options. There is a very innovative mixture of plastic, cast and sheet metal parts in this machine. We will do a blog on it one day, as it is a significant watershed / swansong in mechanical machine history.

The machine itself is roughly 25cm (width) x 20cm (depth) x 90cm (height).
