Something a little different, this is a genuine commercial quality Lumenex ON AIR sign.

We have obtained one final batch of these 90s era, commercial grade lights that are metal cased in very solid metal (originally white) casings, that were made sometime in the mid 90s to early 2000s. As a result although the lights are in ‘as new’ condition note that the cardboard outer boxes are less so, as a result, we will send it to you double boxed withing a new, larger outer box, making it suitable as a gift. Full instructions are provided.

Dimensions are w=430mm, h=190mm, d=60mm or in old money that’s 17″ x 7½” x 2⅓”. Weight of the box is nearly 2kg! That’s some hefty steel.

Majority made in the UK (the case properly made in the UK from scratch, same as the front legend) with only the replacement LED light source being from overseas, as is pretty much the only choice these days). The replacement LED light and cordset are CE and/or UKCA marked from an ISO9001 supplier.

Lumenex were founded in the ’70s but following a takeover, many of their principal product lines were subsumed into corporate behemoths Tyco using their other names such as Honeywell and Gent – the Lumenex brand name continued to be used for ‘special products’ including confusingly marine-orientated ones thereafter. This light fitting is NOT recommended for the high seas.

The Black Edition has a side fitted cord grip in black, black sticky feet, white flex, but is also supplied with a 20mm plastic blank for the cord outlet to allow for professional wall mounting.

Note: Having my own experience and having taken considerable advice, as previously it was decided that we did not want to run the risk of allowing 240V rewireable models with ‘open frame’ PSUs to be sent out whilst we are clearly marketing them at (adult!) end users. This means there is NO earth requirement for the casing, as the fitting within and supply cord are both double insulated through a plastic gland. We use a UK based ISO9001 supplier and the fittings are genuinely UKCA / CE marked, a ROHS summary is supplied too. The rating for luminous efficacy is ‘E’ for the LED models.
